Following major refurbishment works over the summer months, SEVVA ushers in its 12th year with verve and boldness. The premier destination in Hong Kong for trendsetters and sophisticates continues to raise the benchmark in the hospitality scene with its boundary-pushing design and creativity. Curated by internationally celebrated and award-winning creative visionary Bonnae Gokson, the reimagined SEVVA remains a little oasis in the city with its signature easy glam residential feel.
“The large-scale renovation project has been purely a labour of love, and with wow factors at every turn, I hope it brings joy and inspiration to people all around the globe. Always remember, creativity is intelligence, a gift that keeps on giving, and I live my life every day with these values in mind,” says Bonnae Gokson, founder of SEVVA. The self-trained visionary designed the 22,000 sq ft space herself, with collaboration from an Australian design firm. The makeover went beyond cosmetic changes to the reconfiguration of certain areas to open up space, installation of new flooring throughout the restaurant and kitchen, new decking in the terrace, and rebuilding walls to improve functionality.
SEVVA’s HARBOURSIDE dining room has been revitalised with a unique sculptural installation adorning the 20-ft-tall ceiling. Inspired by the works of renowned American artist Nick Cave and others, the spectacular installation is the only one of its kind in the world. The kaleidoscopic floral dome is festooned with a hundred thousand silk flowers and 36 custom-made gypsy chandeliers in an explosion of colours. The patented chandeliers, each 1.7 metre long, feature over 76,000 pieces of hand-crafted crystals with over 10 shapes and 20 jewelled tones. The stunning focal point radiates warm energy and demonstrates Gokson’s mastery of the use of colours fully.
Another fabulous highlight of the revamped SEVVA is the reconfigured and enlarged TASTE BAR. The focal point of SEVVA’s beverage operations features a dazzling gold-leaf trim, which echoes the venue’s glamour and style. The bar area is perfect for gatherings of any size or a private function serving an impressive menu of classic and signature cocktails, fine wines and champagne enjoyed with a wide selection of refined small plates.
SEVVA’s excellent cocktails are also perfectly accompanied by one of the most panoramic views of the city’s skyline from the 25th floor venue’s TERRACE. Articulating the art of entertainment at its finest, the sound system of the entire restaurant has been upgraded to a world-class, concert-level German state-of-the-art system.
The BANKSIDE dining room remains unchanged, retaining its timeless chic style beloved by customers.
While the interiors have had an amazing makeover, SEVVA’s much-loved menu of East meets West dishes has also been injected with new dishes created by Australian award-winning chef Chase Kojima which include Pan-fried Coral Garoupa with Goma Ponzu, Wok-fried Boston Lobster with aka Miso, Nori Butter, Wakame & Kombu and many more. All-time favourites such as SEVVA Signature Vegetable Soups, Vegetable “Nub Nub”, Steamed Artichoke with Trio Dipping Sauces, City’s Best Dosas, Thali Platters, Taiwanese Beef Noodle Bowl, Shanghainese Wontons and Wagyu Beef Cheek & OX Tongue Pot Pie, to name a few, will continue to delight new and returning guests.
SEVVA’s singular style, sophistication and attention to detail extend to the receptionists’ uniforms which are made from cashmere woven exclusively for SEVVA in Shanghai and Hangzhou. Now, Gokson’s vision for the next chapter in SEVVA’s storied history is ready to be unveiled.
