Harnessing the hydrating and anti-ageing properties of the Resurrection Plant grown in the oldest desert in the world with the combined power of probiotics and biotechnology.

Just in time for fall, world-leading probiotic skincare brand, Esse, is proud to announce the launch of its Resurrect Serum in Hong Kong this October. Created especially for sensitive and sensitised skin, the Resurrect Serum benefits from the rapid reviving rate of a divine plant found in Southern Africa country Namibia, and utilises the power of probiotics and biotechnology. This new serum is the perfect addition to any skincare regimen for the dry season in the upcoming months, providing high-level hydration, anti-wrinkle effects to reduce fine lines, firming and lifting the skin.

Origins of the Namibian plant from the oldest desert in the world

Esse’s new Resurrect Serum derives from the Namibian plant, Myrothamnus flabellifolia, also better known as the ‘Resurrection Plant’, which grows in the Namib, the oldest desert in the world. The nickname comes from its unique ability to come back to life in a matter of hours after it has been dried out, even if it has not seen a drop of water for many years. The Resurrection Plant is a potent protector against free radicals and also has high polyphenol content, resulting in an effective hydrating Resurrect Serum with antiageing effects on the skin.

Key active ingredients: Bakuchiol and GABA

The formula of the Resurrect Serum, developed by founder and biochemist, Trevor Steyn, contains many active ingredients, including Bakuchiol and Gamma Aminobutyric Acid (GABA).

Bakuchiol is hailed as “retinol without the side-effects” and is extracted from Indian Babchi seeds. It provides up to 24 hours of hydration and stimulates the key processes associated with retinol but without the sensitivity, leaving the skin more firmed, lines reduced and elasticity improved. GABA is an amino acid that supplies vital nutrients to the skin which helps accelerate cell turnover and rebuilding of support structures. It fights, rather than causes, inflammation and nourishes irritated skin to help even out the appearance of discolouration and redness, relaxes facial muscles and reduces fine lines.

These two active ingredients, together with hyaluronic acid, one million tyndallised probiotics per ml, probiotic lysates that contain Anti-Microbial Peptides (AMP’s) and vitamin B5, are housed in a base of aloe gel with prebiotics to feed microbial diversity, improve barrier function, and shift the skin’s microbiome to a more balanced state.

Immediate benefits after single use

A study of 20 women has shown that extracts of the Resurrection Plant rapidly improves skin hydration and the effect lasts for 24 hours after a single application.

As a result, Esse’s Resurrect Serum (HK$ 920) helps with restoring the elasticity, firming and lifting the skin. Other benefits include wrinkle reduction, reduction in inflammation, increased procollagen synthesis, prevention of future damage, supply high-level hydration and antioxidant protection for both on the surface and beneath the layers of skin.

The new Resurrect Serum works best with the Nourish Moisturiser, another recommended product that contains shea butter and aloe vera, to comfort and protect especially dry and sensitive skin during this fall season.

Esse’s diverse range of products are currently available for purchase at multiple beauty stores across Hong Kong. Stay tuned on Esse’s social media channels on the Resurrect Serum launch in October and where to get hold of the new product!
