Calzedonia Group has responded to the plea from the institutions with a concrete and immediate gesture, placing its plants and business resources at their disposal: starting Monday, March 23, the company has converted a number of its plants to the production of medical masks and gowns.

The operation is one that the company’s President Sandro Veronesi views as absolutely essential and that demonstrates the sensitivity of the Group toward its employees, its customers and the healthcare emergency that affects us all. First, the company closed all its stores in the zones considered at risk, and later throughout all of Italy, in advance of the government’s decree.

The plants converted to the production of masks and gowns will be those of Avio (TN) and Gissi (CH), as regards Italy, as well as the Croatian plants owned by the Verona-based Group.
The conversion was possible thanks to the purchase of special machinery for the creation of a semi- automatic line, and also by training the sewing machine operators in the new type of production.

This new organization will be able to produce 10,000 masks a day in the early stages, but we expect to be able to increase that number in the coming weeks.
