TWO NEW ICONIC MASTERPIECES BY MAISON PERRIER-JOUËT

An icon of the Maison, the Belle Epoque is produced only in years when the seasons have aligned perfectly, as judged by Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps. The cuvée is a captivating demonstration not only of the art of blending, but also of the exceptional quality of the Maison Perrier-Jouët vineyard. This March, the House unveils two exquisite vintage masterpieces: The Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2006 and Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2012.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2006 The Perrier-Jouët Belle

Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2006 is the Maison’s rarest and most precious cuvée. Made from 1 single harvest, 1 grape variety and 1 terroir, the Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs2006 is the perfect expression of Perrier-Jouët style – floral and pure.

Over 200 years, Maison Perrier-Jouët has developed and preserved a uniquely precious vineyard rated at 99.2% on the champagne Cruscale. The vineyard includes the best plots for Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs in Cramant and Avize. A signature of the Perrier-Jouët style, the Chardonnays are carefully selected in the heart of the Grand Cru village of Cramant. Here, the parcels benefit from exposure to the first rays of the early morning sun to encourage a slow and even ripening of the grapes, offering generous aromas of white flowers and a delicate well-balanced bouquet.

The Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2006 is the result of a year of contrasts-along, dry and cold winter was followed by a mild rainy spring. Summer started in June with high temperatures and irregular rain, before a hot and dry September enabled the grapes to reach the perfect maturity for harvest just before autumn. The result is a cuvee is seductively fresh and floral on the nose, possessing acacia, hawthorn, lilac blossom and elderberry notes with hints of honey, lemon and poached pear. On the palate, the Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2006caresses like satin, lingering on and on.

“Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2006 expresses the purity of Chardonnay: floral and intricate with the brilliance and rarity of a yellow diamond.”–Hervé Deschamps, Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque2012

Though Maison Perrier-Jouët is famed for its Chardonnay vineyard, it also possesses exceptional plots of Pinot Noir – as magnificently demonstrated by the Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2012 which combines the two grape varieties in almost equal proportions.

After a mild winter and cool spring, the summer was hot and bathed in sunshine throughout harvest. The 2012 harvest provided beautiful bunches of healthy grapes picked at full maturity, creating an elegant and seductive wine. After aging for five years in the Maison’s cellars, this cuvée reveals a richness that fully expresses the floral complexity of Chardonnay.

Characterised by a pale, translucent gold, with radiant clarity and subtle glints of apple green, Belle Epoque 2012 has distinctive notes of white flowers that combine with white peaches, crisp pears and lemon on the nose. Freshness prevails on the palate, releasing a beautiful harmony.

“Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2012 is a true icon: a rare and alluring wine remarkable for its floral harmony and its richness”–Hervé Deschamps, Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master
