JOYCE HEARS THE CALL OF THE 80s: CELEBRATING THE
“GREATEST LOVE OF ALL” THIS FESTIVE SEASON WITH A
TOUCH OFNOSTALGIA

Because the greatest love of all
Is happening tome
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me

JOYCE encourages us all to look inwards this festive season, embracing the past and looking to the future with a little help from the sounds of the 80s. Power ballads, Cali Rock, Euro Disco, Glam Metal and the golden age of Hip Hop all feed into the store’s Christmas offering. A progressive time capsule of vintage and current day creations, there’s something for everyone… particularly those who wish to treat themselves this holiday.

THE WINDOW

The festive audio visual experience begins in the JOYCE Central flagship storefront window: brought to life by an electrifying multiscreen TV tree showing a specially produced ‘music video’- style feature on loop. Fashion on display showcases an eye catching piece by JOYCE exclusive designer Christopher John Rogers, having been worn by none other than music icon Lady Gaga to The VMAs (2020). Continuing in the vein of celebrated iconic female superstars, all JOYCE storefronts feature a tribute to the late Queen of power ballads: Whitney Houston, with her eternal lyrics emblazoned in hot
pink across the windows.

Beyond the window, modern-day glamazons are spoilt for choice this party season with select offerings from Attico, Balmain Women, Christopher John Rogers, Magda Butrym, Richard Quinn and Saint Laurent.

EIGHTIES VINTAGE TEES BY NOT/APPLICABLE:

In-store fashion highlights echo the aesthetic of retro music culture including a series of authentic vintage tees painstakingly sourced by NOT/APPLICABLE. “Acknowledging the future whilst considering the past”, Natasha Advani has hunted down genuine pieces of American cultural history with tees depicting Whitney Houston (87/93), Tina Turner (96), Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Rolling Stones.

NOSTALGIC GIFTS BY ASTERISK:

Also offering rare vintage finds, 70s, 80s and 90s curios have been hand-selected from the ASTERISK collection. A veritable treasure trove of gifts for the nostalgically inclined, cult items including a Swatch wall clock, Kodak director’s chair, Rolex floating key chain, Sony cassette bag and an original McDonald’s sign will be made available at the JOYCE Central flagship store.

ART TOYS BY KKPLUS:

Collectible gifting continues at the JOYCE Pacific Place store with kkplus presenting a selection of highly collectible art toys and models. Skirting the line between pop-culture and contemporary art, the assortment includes the creations of Skull Toons, The Bust, Li Qing mei and local artist Tik ka. New arrivals on shelves this month introduce guerilla artist Banksy’s 3D embodiments of his iconic works in collaboration with MEDICOM TOY and Mighty Jaxx. Other additions include artist Blank William’s GOP series as well as an additional piece by FOOLSPARADISE.

JOYFUL TUNES WITH JOYCE SOUNDS

Festive shopping would not be completed without an upbeat soundtrack. JOYCE SOUNDS drops a new series of playlists specially compiled by the MIHN Resident DJs, Richard Quinn, Magda Butrym and Not/Applicable. And the audio journey continues with accompanying newly released episodes of the JOYCE PODCAST for listeners to enjoy over the holiday period:

• MIHN Resident DJs in conversation with Arthur Bray and
Tedman Lee (Published)
• Christopher John Rogers in conversation with Jillian Choi
(Coming soon…)
• Richard Quinn in conversation with Susie Lau (Comingsoon…)
• Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (Comingsoon…)

And with that, after a year of unprecedented challenges, the JOYCE team wishes our entire community the world-over a very happy, healthy and hopeful New Year.
