Book Your Private Moment: The First-in-Asia Globoscope Immersive Light Showcase from France lands at K11 MUSEA for Christmas

“I am honoured to be bringing Globoscope to Asia for the first time, most importantly, to K11 MUSEA in Hong Kong. It’s exciting and very fitting to be showcasing in such a unique space within the heart of the city and one that integrates art, culture and retail in such a beautifully curated manner, inspiring cross-cultural dialogues amongst the global community. For those who visit Globoscope at K11 MUSEA this Christmas, I want the space to evoke feelings of warmth and romance and to spark conversation,” said Maxime Houot, the Artistic Director of Collectif Coin. Delighting art lovers throughout the city, this first-in-Asia Globoscope is an immersive sensory light showcase that first debuted at the Fête des Lumières de Lyon in 2014. The monumental immersive work is made up of a large number of luminous individual spheres that shimmer in sync.

Taking inspiration from K11 MUSEA’s vision, this site-specific showcase has been created and configured in harmony with the Bohemian Garden. With the unique characteristics of ‘A Muse By the Sea’, each individual light sphere is uniquely positioned as a glowing point or pixel within this beautiful landscape, connected into choreographed light movements that swirl throughout. Mathematics and light are used in this way to transform the Bohemian Garden, offering the viewer a surreal experience as though they are transported to another space.

Take in the moment, look up and around at the surrounding Hong Kong skyline and discover how the curation of this showcase has been designed to complement the city’s high-spirited lights and energy. This beautifully festive and romantic setting is open to the public from 27 November 2020 – 3 January 2021 upon reservation and on a first come first served basis. Each session lasts for 20 minutes from 5:30pm to 10:00pm. Private moments are available and guests can book a slot to treat family and friends or as a romantic gesture to surprise a partner with a marriage proposal.

Located at 7/F Bohemian Garden. Start your booking now to reserve a slot between 27
November 2020 – 3 January 2021, operating every 20 minutes from 5:30pm to 10:00pm.
Private moments are scheduled from 30 November, Mondays to Thursdays except 24 – 26 and 31 December (Please refer to the website for full details on terms and conditions.) To book a session, please book through K11 MUSEA website: https://bit.ly/35DQwnb

Designed to Inspire, Global and Local Designers unite to create imaginative prototypes

Head to the Gold Ball to experience the DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade Select
Showcase. The showcase is a micro-initiative conceptualised by Marisa Yiu, Co-Founder / Executive Director of Design Trust, a grant funding and community platform established by the non-profit registered charity Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design. Borne from the desire to reconnect and to reduce our social distancing “distance” during the pandemic, DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade fosters the idea that design can enact positive change in this challenging context. The Trust challenged designers from both Hong Kong and beyond to channel their creativity and inspiration into creating unique homemade prototypes that address a pressing societal need. Over 20 of these prototypes created by the local Hong Kong and international design community are currently showcased at the Gold Ball to inspire art and design lovers.

Wandering through K11 MUSEA’s Christmas winterscape, guests can also experience
Beijing-based artist Xiao Yu’s recent work, BB sculpture in Bronze. Yu, a contemporary
conceptual artist, has had his bold and unpredictable creations featured around the globe since the 1990s. Yu’s BB series of bronze sculptures has evolved from his past “bamboo” sculptures, as the new series devotes itself to the construction and writing of the artist’s own language. The lines of these works are disorderly yet fluent, reminiscent of the brushstrokes in Chinese calligraphy.
