MATCHALI is returning to Central at its latest location in ifc. Its newest venue embraces the subtle beauties of the traditional tea house, brought to life with modern energy and
vibrant colours. Designed in conjunction with Hong Kong-based design agency Studio Adjective, the space seamlessly nestles into a pocket underneath the atrium’s escalator.

A triangular structure that is simultaneously bold and minimal, it is accented by MATCHALI’s signature pink hue. The unique design speaks to the idea that harmony can be found no matter the environment. Built with a wrap-around window, customers can peer in as matcharistas craft their drinks to order. The pavilion also features a standing bar and laid back seating area amongst urban foliage.

Having made its debut in 2019, MATCHALI is Hong Kong’s first home-grown contemporary matcha brand. The founders fell in love with this superfood for its capacity to increase focus, boost cognitive function and its distinct ability to instil calm. It has the added benefits of being packed with amino acids, antioxidants, protein and vitamins due to its particular farming process. Its star ingredient, ceremonial grade matcha, continues to feature in innovative ways, whilst also respecting the traditional rituals that have existed for centuries.

The all-new location coincides with an ever-growing menu of matcha blends. This includes the new Yuzu Lemonade Matcha, a fragrant concoction of yuzu, lemonade and soda topped with matcha, as well as a Kiwi Sencha Cold Brew, a tangy and tart drink made with fresh kiwi and infused green tea leaves. The menu also features the Matcha Piccolo, a miniature version of the classic Matcha Latte and the fruity Strawberry Matcha Latte. Signature menu favourites like the Hojicha Latte and Grey Latte remain, as well as the beloved Traditional Hand Whisked Matcha.

All drink offerings are customisable. MATCHALI offers wholesome milk alternatives like oat or almond milk, as well as a shot of collagen or CBD drops. Superfoods like Ashwagandha, Maca, and Camu Camu are also available to maximise on health benefits.

The ifc location will be home to a new composting and sustainability programme. Two easy to use bins will be available for composting and general waste. Now all cups, bags, utensils, napkins and any residual food will be composted, returned to the soil and no longer end up in the landfill. A natural extension of both founders’ sustainability practices at home, it’s an important step in a larger effort to embrace a zero-waste initiative.

Partnering with the Eco Community Promotion Association Limited, Matchali is able to put waste to good use. The recycling company will work to turn compost bin collectables into nutrient-rich compost and enrich the soil for future food and plants to grow.
