Pop-Up: The Living Room by HULA & Choose Well Art Exhibit

From November 28 – December 3, 2017; be sure to check out the soon to be launched pop-up shopping experience The Living Room by
Designer Consignment Boutique HULA and a photography exhibition by art director and sustainable fashion advocate Gloria Yu called “Choose Well”.

HULA is not just an online boutique, it is a sustainable fashion community where members can consign items they no longer need and discover the best designer pieces for less whilst impacting the world at the same time. HULA’s mission is to help prolong the life of well-designed fashion pieces and help redue textile waste- the second largest pollutant worldwide. To make fashion an industry which is kind to both people and the environment, HULA offers 5% of its profits to partnered charities ranging from environmental to human trafficking NGOs.

For the first time HULA will be offline and available for guests to experience firsthand.
This six-day only The Living Room by HULA event will take place at a unique space in the heart of Soho, Hong Kong, featuring an intimate living room-inspired space to host by-appointment only shoppers and introduce them to a curated selection of pre- loved designer clothes from TheHULA.com. Guests can shop unique pieces from Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, Céline, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Ellery, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermès, Prada, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, among other designer brands. The Living Room by HULA will take place on the upper level for private appointments only and will move to the ground level on the last two days for public attendance.

On the ground level, a photography exhibition by art director and sustainable fashion advocate Gloria Yu titled Choose Well will be showcased. The work pays homage to the phrase first coined by designer Vivienne Westwood ‘Buy less, choose well, make it last’, honouring legacy designer houses and the importance of prioritizing clothing quality over quantity.

As part of the event, HULA will be hosting a limited seating discussion panel ‘Has Sustainability Become Stylish?’ on the evening of Tuesday, November 28. When Stella McCartney first launched her fur-free, leather-free business in 2001, she was ridiculed. Fast forward to 2017, most fashion labels have established ethical standards for their practices to varying degrees – being asked at some point about how sustainable their operations are is almost inevitable. Panelists include Carlo Imo (Head of Kering Asia Pacific), Justine Lee (Fashion Director of Hong Kong Tatler) and Christina Dean (Founder of Redress), and the panel will be moderated by Angie Lau (Bloomberg Asia Anchor). This event is by-invitation only.

For the duration of this six-day event, our charitable giving would go towards Redress – an environmental NGO working to reduce waste in the fashion industry.
