Sacai is pleased to announce the launch of its official online store, “sacai THE store”opening at 1pm on the 19th June *JST for Japan and globally from early July.
Chitose Abe, the founder and designer of sacai envisioned an online store that would feel “personal” and “real” for customers who engage in online shopping, different from the experience of shopping in store, that would bring that sense of personal intimacy of the brand. To bring this idea to life, sacai chose to introduce the brand to shoppers through the personal styling of employees or friends of the house.
The “friends & family” who appear on the online store as models are the people who reflect the sacai DNA and you cannot describe the brand without, such as the entrepreneur/creator Edison Chen, his wife model Shu Pei and their daughter Alaia, Sarah Andelman from the Paris-based brand consulting agency JUST AN IDEA, the film director/photographer Philip Andelman, George Clinton from the legendary band Funkadelic and his wife Carlon ,the stylist Jenke Ahmed Tailly, London-based DJ Shy One, the stylist Karl Templer who works on sacai’s shows and campaigns, Fraser Cooke and Mie Anton from Nike and so on. The images are taken by themselves, family, or friends in each one’s personal space and show their unfettered personal styling and expression. They will also be shown on sacai’s official SNS channels with the hashtag of #sacaiTHEpeople with a short introduction of who they are.
On the online store, there will be a selection of exclusive items that can only be purchased on sacai THE store in addition to the sacai women’s and men’s 2020 Spring & Summer collections. To celebrate the opening of the brand’s online store, the limited edition T-shirts with the “New Phase” graphic will be available in kid’s and adult sizes as well as the world map items, from the sacai2020 Spring & Summer season reinterpreted for kids. These items will be introduced with the online store opening, available for pre-order only for domestic delivery in Japan.
From early July, additional special collaboration items will be available for global shipping. The collaboration with UNDERCOVER will appear in a new style of creators’ collaboration where each brand’s essence will be added onto existing pieces from each brand. In addition, the collaboration items with Nike which feature Nike’s slogan “You Can’t Stop Us” will also be available. Both collaborations will be available for pre-order only.
